As musicians, we know that a broken instrument can put you out of business. And one that’s poorly set up—let’s face it— is not much fun to play.

Whether or not you bought your instrument from us, and whether or not it’s still relatively new and under warranty or old and collecting dust, as authorized dealers for a number of lines we provide a full suite of repair services and adjustments to help you perform at your peak.

Our repair services include:

• Basic set-up and adjustment
• String, nut, and bridge replacement
• Electronics troubleshooting
• Pickup upgrades and installation
• Advanced and/or complex repairs
• Amplifier repair and servicing
• Warranty repairs

Our instructors seek to give students a thorough understanding of their instrument while teaching them to play music they enjoy.

Our lessons follow a basic outline that is personalized to match each individual’s musical taste and ability. Most importantly, we believe playing an instrument should be fun: when playing becomes fun, so does learning.

Our policies regarding private lessons:

• The rate is $20.00 per half hour lesson.
• Please pay your instructor directly.
• We ask that students pay in advance for 4 lessons at a time. Payment is due on or before the day of the first lesson, then on or before the 5th lesson, 9th lesson, etc.
• Please provide a 24-hour notice if you need to miss a lesson.

• The student will provide his/her own transportation to and from Capitol Guitars for lessons.
• If the student is late for a lesson, the lesson still ends at the scheduled time (out of fairness to the next student).

Meet our Instructors

Established in 2004 by Twin Cities musicians Eric Berg and Bill Bergeron of the local sci-fi punk band, Invasion Earth, Capitol Guitars is a full-service, independent guitar store located in downtown St. Paul. 

While any store can sell gear, Capitol Guitars is staffed entirely by active, gigging musicians who understand your needs, whether you’re just starting out learning to play or are going out on tour. We carry a wide range of carefully selected instruments and accessories so you can find what you need. But if you can't find it, we can get it!

Supporting the local scene
As strong supporters of the local music scene, don’t be surprised to see us at one of your shows. We’ll even help carry your gear on and off stage if you bought it from us (within 30 days of purchase—some restrictions may apply!). 

So come downtown and get to know us! We’ve got a friendly, relaxed, comfortable store where you can find the guitar, amp, or accessory you’re looking for. What you won’t find is any pressure, we’d rather let our outstanding service speak for itself!
